I bought this car with the intention of restoring it—an impulse decision after a co-worker sent me a Craigslist ad for a project car. The next day I drove two hours to see it, and soon after had it trailered back home. Like many ambitious projects, it quickly became more work than I had imagined. The car came with a blown motor, worn suspension, questionable wiring, and a long list of other issues, but I saw it as an opportunity to challenge myself and learn.

Over the following months, I sourced parts and built a "Frankenstein" engine in my garage, combining a D15B2 block with a D16Z6 head. With guidance from the service manual and countless hours of research, I carefully reassembled the engine, triple-checking each step to ensure everything was correct. After chasing a few small issues, the car finally roared to life—a moment of pride that rewarded the patience, persistence, and attention to detail I had invested. Alongside the engine, I worked through the rest of the car’s problems piece by piece, transforming it into a running and driving machine.

Ultimately, I discovered title complications that made it impossible to register the car without significant expense. I made the tough decision to cut my losses and sell it. While the outcome wasn’t what I envisioned, the experience taught me resilience, resourcefulness, and how to turn setbacks into valuable lessons. Looking back, I don’t regret the purchase—it was the project that pushed me to grow the most as both an enthusiast and a problem-solver.
